Using the Application

The following figure shows the main application screen in action. There are three main panels, the project view on the left side, the chord/scale editor on the top right, and the style editor on the bottom right.

Project View Panel

This panel is used to organize your project into groups of chords and scales. When you select a chord or scale in this view by clicking on it, that item will appear in the editor panel to the right. In the example above we can see that the C add9 chord has been selected in the left panel, and as a result this is the scale being editor to the right.

By selecting items in this view you can use the "Edit" menu to do things like cut, copy, paste and delete. A quicker way is the right-click the mouse on an item in the project panel view, and use the popup menu that appears.

Chord/Scale Editor Panel

In the example above the chord editor is shown as the guitar neck and the tool-bar above. This panel allows you to point and click notes onto the guitar neck, add barre chords, fingering notations and so on. The topics Chord Editor and Scale Editor go into all the details about these editors.

Style Panel

The bottom right panel is where we specify the way our images will look when they are rendered to file. This process is quite separate to the editing of your project and its chords and scales. In the example above the particular details being viewed are the color settings for the renders. Typically you will work with this panel in detail when you want to render your project and wish to tweak the look. The help topic Styles goes through these options.
