Styles - Fret LayoutThe Fret Layout tab describes the various rules for painting fretted notes onto the guitar neck.
Hide Empty Lower Frets for Chords/Scales up the NeckThis feature lets you avoid painting large sections of empty guitar neck for chords that appear up the neck. Fret markers can be used to show where the neck has been cut off, as the following example shows:
The default minimum fret to cut off is the 5th fret which works well for most cases. The following setting "Show whole neck when open strings are present" is usually best left UN-checked. For example, in the above case if we set the top treble strings to be open, we will get the following result:
In other words, the open-strings do not force the whole neck to be painted. If this is required however, turn this setting on, and you would see the following result:
Force Maximum Displayed FretThis setting allows you to force the image renders to show the guitar neck at least up until this fret number. Padding Frets Left of FingeringSpecifies the number of empty frets that must be painted (if possible) to the left of the left-most fingered fret in the chord/scale. Padding Frets Right of FingeringSpecifies the number of empty frets that must be painted (if possible) to the right of the right-most fingered fret in the chord/scale. Minimum Frets to ShowSpecies a minimum number of frets to display for a chord. Typically a value like 4 works well, and stops very narrow chords from looking odd with just a single fret painted for example. Paint Last FretSpecifies whether to paint the very last fret of the guitar neck in the image renders. In the examples above, we can see that the last fret in the chord in never painted as a vertical line, as the setting is unchecked.
